Usually, when a bird starts to show a sign that something is wrong-- even very subtle signs, it is something that needs addressed. Birds hide any illness naturally, as it may make them less obvious to predators. That is unfortunate for us, though, as they also can hide signs of problems. If any of your other birds show signs of being lethargic, it is a good idea to investigate it as if it is serious, because it might be.
I don't know about Maine, but some states have low or no cost necropsy services as preformed through the state labs/poultry department. If you want answers you can always find out, though it will probably have to wait since it is the weekend. If you decide to go this route, store your hen under refrigeration, don't freeze her. If you don't go the necropsy route, that's okay too, and I wish you all the best with the rest of your birds. I am again sorry that she passed away.
