Hello. I live in Colorado and I just got 4 chickens. A buff Orpington A white bantam silkie a buff bantam silkie and a silver laced polish. I am now trying to pick out the best coop possible. I have 2 coops in mind and I was wondering if this coop would be big enough for all 4 to live in. Here is the picture and the description.

If this is not big enough then their is a bigger very nice coop for sale but if this is big enough then I would like to save some money and buy this one. Thanks for your help!

You need to think about chicken math or multiplication ether way you should have 6 sq ft per bird but if you plan on free range then you won't need so much room ......

Hello and welcome! The coop would be fine for the number of chickens you want as Gander and Luvmypets said. But I have one similar here in Ohio and I don't feel they are warm enough for winter. You may have to rework it some for drafts in winter. The one I have has side walls about 1/2 thick and no vent closures. Please know I am not an expert but winter is another thing to consider. I am only sharing my opinion, but I wish you all the best with your coop and chickens.
 
Welcome to BYC! The general rule of thumb is a minimum of 10 sq. feet of floor space per standard size chicken and 7.5 sq. feet of floor space per bantam chicken, but more is better to avoid overcrowding problems. There is a good article on this subject at http://naturalchickenkeeping.blogspot.com/2013/04/how-much-coop-and-run-space-do-i-need.html. The coop you are considering has just under 34 sq. feet of floor space. With 4 chickens that comes out to about 8 1/2 sq. feet per bird, which is borderline enough since two of your chickens are bantams. Coupled with the fact that all 4 are docile breeds that handle confinement well, it would probably work out okay, but as WildChildChirp has advised, you shouldn't add any more. Given your winter weather in Colorado, cabinchicky has also given you some good advice and you should probably at least add some kind of wind protection to protect the coop from drafts in the winter. Howdy! Get the biggest coop you can afford as you may end up with more chickens.

That is a very nice coop. You will need 4 to 5 square feet per bird in the coop and 10 square feet per bird in the run. Space is very important as they do turn on each other when cramped, hot and in close quarters with each other. So do your best to give them as much space as you can. You and they will appreciate it in end.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Besides the winter hardiness of the coop, the main problem I am seeing with that coop/run is that the actual enclosed coop is only 23 x34", so not even six square feet of inside space ....not enough for four chickens even if two are bantams, if they are going to be spending a lot of winter days inside.
