I'm sorry you found it offensive. What I thought was funny was the metaphor/hyperbole that LizzyJo came up with. She must be very creative which I am not, so I appreciate things like that.

I did see the humor to it, believe me, I find the oddest things funny. But I have seen videos of them slaughtering dogs. Apparently beating them with clubs, then skinning them alive while tied to a fence brings out the "natural" flavor in dogs. Something about the adrenaline that is produced in "flight or fight" mode. Sorry, it just brought back some visions that were horrifying, to say the least. Sometimes I can be a bit too sensitive. Probably why the meat from supermarkets tastes so good.

Strangely one of the Korean women that worked with me years ago thought it was nasty to keep dogs indoors. She said that they are viewed as farm animals in her culture. Kinda like keeping a cow indoors. When she first came to the US and went over to her neighbor's house she screamed and ran away when a large dog came out of the house. She thought her neighbor was crazy and refused to go back. It took her a while to understand how pets are viewed in this country.

Just a wanted to put in a quick info update on this. South Korea is pretty westernized now and while I am not saying it doesn't ever happen, it is not a common occurrence there anymore, to eat dog.

ETA: Just because a country is "westernized" by their dress, technology and/or the cars they drive does not mean they give up their cultural norms. Nor does it imply that a country's people have taken on what we Americans consider to be "normal" attitude towards dogs and cats or horses for that matter. I would suggest that not many of us would consider France or Canada un-"westernized", yet they routinely eat horse in some of the finest and most expensive restaurants. Where here, well, I'm sure everyone is familiar with the recent legislation outlawing slaughtering of horses.......

That only applies to the slaughter of horses for human consumption. Last I heard there was one slaughterhouse in Tx. working and the rest are being shipped S. of the border where the humane slaughter laws we have here does not apply.
