Chicken Pluckers

I can't imagine having that many birds to process at one time! Looks like you have the right equipment for it. I have two chicken pluckers - one on the end of my right arm and one on the end of my left. <sigh> I noticed you are from Burns - we're up here in Cowley.

Oh man, you had me laughing. My Sister in law hand plucked 9 chickens and she said she felt like she had arthritis for a week. I've only ever hand plucked the stray rooster every now and then. When we thought about how we would handle turkeygeddon we knew we weren't going to be hand plucking all of them. Particularly not the giant white who was 60lbs alive. It was a worthwhile investment! If you need to borrow it let me know though you are one heck of a drive away! lol

Aw, this is Wyoming - nothing's "one heck of a drive away" when you consider that a trip to our nearest Walmart is 50 miles, one way! If we want a Big Mac we'd better have other errands to run and want that Big Mac real bad....MacDonald's is 20 miles away, one way. Our granddaughter,now 19, lived with us for 3 years. When she moved back to Sioux Falls she was trying to explain how wonderfully isolated we are here. Her friend asked, "How isolated?" Little Diane replied, "Well, when Gramma said we needed to go to Walmart I'd yell, 'Oh, goodie! I'll pack the cooler!'"

I don't imagine that I'll ever have more than 3 or 4 birds to do at one time, mostly as we cull. But ya never know - someday a beat up old Ford pickup with 9er plates may show up in your driveway with a crate full of doomed chickens and some homemade strawberry/rhubarb jam for trade!
