Chicken Poop & Adventures in Composting

Yes... more dry brown materials, as much air as you can get in it... I also loved adding spent coffee grounds to my compost, and chaff from the roaster if you can get your hands on it (ask at local coffee shops, you can get them free!) Don’t add worms or insects to a tumbler... it should be getting too hot for them to survive in it. And turn it as often as possible.

I would definitely vote for the chaff (great urban brown!) but coffee grounds are nitrogen-heavy, so not needed with All. That. Poop.

But it does help with the smell! Also if you’re just starting up, it takes a while to accumulate enough mass for a decent compost. The more material you have and the more often you turn it the better.
