Lash eggs are products of salpingitis or inflammation of the oviduct. Many of those are deposited inside the abdomen, while we occasionally may see one come outside in the droppings or the nest box. This is a common illness in chickens. It may be a result of bacteria entering the reproductive tract from the vent or from the bloodstream and later, the abdomen. Antibiotics may or may not help, nut some use them to extend the life. I have had a couple of internal layers who lived for several years, but once they act ill and stop eating, that is a bad sign.
