Welcome! Oh, and HOW exactly is it that you haven't turned on your cabinet incubator for chicken eggs?

Because I'm afraid to take that first step....If I incubate once, there'll be no stopping me. Restraint for the most part

Restraint indeed! I'm impressed!

Just wanted to post a random pic of the pup we decided to keep out of the litter we had...

Isn't she a love?!? We've named her Phoebe.

You know...there's nothing wrong with a backyard mix! We made the mistake of hatching SEVERAL of our first fertilized eggs...we were just so excited about them! At least you are using some good sense.

Several thoughts:

GOSH that's a cute puppy!

I want a CAA T-shirt!! NOW! *kicking curb* Somebody design one and offer 'em for sale!

Gonna set 24 assorted eggs from Gabbard Farms, 6 bantam Lavender Cochins, 8 bantam Dark Brahma tonight. And 10+2 Buff Orpington eggs as soon as the BO eggs get here later this week (after their resting period, of course).

Got the floor of the new shed set up on the pea gravel "foundation" today. Gotta get the shed up in the next few days so I can go get the ginormous brooder I've purchased.

I would love for everyone to jump in with ideas on a shirt! Tag line...logo...color...etc. I'll get this ball rollin'!

Gabbard farm...love their website. I almost placed an order from her this last spring...but was new to hatching, and couldn't justify the price for my inexperience. I will be ordering from them this spring...they are very sweet people, and she was excellent with communication.

Take pics of your coop. My DH is "winging" it with ours (not a carpenter by any means) and I love to see what others are doing.

Yay to your BO's!

I love mine! They were some of my firsts. You could say they were my gateway drug that led me to more chickens!

Do tell! How does one "hide" orpingtons?
gig.gif

Well, my new coop isn't quite finished. It needs a people door. So the babies are in the brooder area of the new coop during the day. At night I've been putting them in a dog crate and hiding them in the non-chicken approved outbuilding. (hubby doesn't like the dust on his stuff)

He had said no more chickens until the coop was finished. When I agreed to take them, it was supposed to be finished by the time I picked them up. But rain had other plans, and it's not done yet.

In my defense, they are English Orps........who could pass THAT up?
