Exactly Karen. Wine fridge would be a perfect size!

Separate thing...are you still looking for a Lav Ameraucana roo? I have one from John Blehm I am willing to part with. He's long and leggy!

None of my ladies are laying so I not going to worry about it until at least the first of the year......unless you talk me into it

Alright I can at least look at a picture, it might sway my decision to wait.

I think this is the same pic I posted on the swap thread...he was around 5 months when this was taken...he's 7 months old now. I found I actually have 4 Lav roos!

My girls aren't laying either...I went from 2 dozen eggs a day to just 1 or 2 eggs a day! Slackers!!! I just need to make sure he will go to a good home. Did you find a home for your Black Am pair? Please don't say freezer camp!

(Please don't mind my reflection in the door)

You can even see a few babies down there running around on the bottom shelf, one up from the floor of the bator!

You guys should consider building a few and selling them...hint hint! I would like one the size of a wine refrigerator...I see them come up on craig's list every now and then. I love the glass door, lots of surface area for my nose and hand prints. I would be first on your list!

Jeremy wants a wine fridge to use as hatcher. We got two huge styrofoam cooler thingies from Nat at Chickenstock that I guess he is going to use for now, but I am going to miss having the glass door too look thru. I LOVE that. It is my favorite part.

The full window is my favorite part, too! Where did you find the fridge?

aww gee that was fast! great now I'm really considering it hmmm I need to figure out my breeding pens. I'll get back to you about him in a day or two. As for the black Am pair, they went to a local BYCer. I keep debating on getting rid of one more pair. A pair of Wheaten Ameraucanas. The rooster is almost perfect but I need to freshen up the gene pool soon. If he doesn't go this year he will by the next fall.

Wheatens and Lavs are my fav. I have 2 Wheaten roos...1 from Blehm, the other I hatched from Melissa Parker in Houston, TX. I want to get lots of babies from both...I'll hatch a roo out for you over the winter...if they do their business, of course!

This my wheaten boy. I had him shipped last year from Jean (pips&peeps). He is just gorgeous but I need to get new blood since 1/3 of my flock has his genes. I am getting a shipment of wheaties and lavs from John Blehm this Spring. They are already bought and paid for...just wait for spring.

He's a good looking roo. John's shipment of chicks were perfect! If you go on the Ameraucana breeders website, he posted a pic of my shipped chicks...Easter weekend. Makes me want to order more!!!!

Okay, I'm turkey abbreviation illiterate! What's a BBW? Is there a docile breed of turkey? I would consider anything that is entertaining...I feel I've come this far with chickens!

I'm not sold on turkeys yet. I think there should be a progression of poultry. Chickens seem to be the "gateway" to others, so let's go in order. Chickens, then ducks, then geese, on to guineas, then turkeys, then pheasants, (insert an indoor bird or two here), then revert back to quail/partridge/doves/pigeons, then progress to peafowl, swans, then emus, then lastly (for the completely crazy addict)...ostriches!

I must say, I wouldn't mind attempting an ostrich omelet! Just to say I have!

BBW - Broad Breasted White, they are the "meat" turkeys.

My hubby won't let me get ducks

Total chicken addict here, bedside table is covered with chicken catalogs. All I use my computer for is chicken surfing and BYC'ing now! At work I get my chicken fix on my break and between orders!

I think my DF is tiring of all conversations being about chickens. They know if I open my mouth, most likely chicken talk is going to ensue! There was even serious talk about vetoing my upcoming order and requiring me to cancel it on the "you already have enough chickens" premise!

So, I squeaked this coming order by on the "better to ask for forgiveness than permission" rule, but I don't think I can get another order of chicks before spring. SO, I am going to have some serious chick withdrawal.

SO, I have decided to incubate. I love my E.E.s and I have located an E.E. rooster - the dark purpley color with the white hackles. His picture is here.

I am going to pick him up this weekend. I hope he is nice to my hens, if not, he will be on limited "conjugal visits", until he learns how to be nice. My girls are brown and all 6 look similar.

Then I will have E.E. babies! What to do with the roos?

A chicken addiction is very similar to a drug addiction - "you know you are getting desperate when you start making your own at home!"
