Sigh, I got to to duck-sit the 10 little imps for about 12 hours! I could have watched them all night.

My DParents regarded the ducks with suspicion, and only visibly relaxed and admitted they were cute when I said they were going to Daisychick's house in the morning!

Apparently, my dream of duck ownership is dashed!

I loaded all the ducks and the 6 BA chicks into the car at 6:30 this morning and headed out! I picked up Daisychick's "cheeping box of happiness" from the Post Office this morning. I was excited to see that they all survived the journey!

I am KNOWN at the post office! Not sure if that is good or bad, but they had the chick box sitting on top of a box marked HATCHING EGGS, DO NOT X-RAY! She said she figured I was the same person! I guess 7 orders of chicks and 40-ish boxes of hatching eggs in the last 6 months have made them notice me!

I made a broody box for 'Simone' to cover the Cuckoo Maran eggs! I was supposed to get a dozen, but there were 15 in the box! Good thing 'Simone' is a BIG gurl!!!! SO, I had to shuffle eggs around under the broodies. I think everyone has matching "due dates"?

We warned you!!! I still think you should get guineas. I'm going to hatch lavender ones for you. They are much cleaner.. umm.. but noisy.

IdealisticRoo: The little ones are doing great!! I fixed them up with a better waterer and they are still thinking they should wade in it, and we are talking about the bantams not the ducks.

They are all alert now, even that little tan one. I think I am in love with the lavender cochins. Ok I still need to take pics.

Anyway, I am printing out a copy of that "INCUBATOR" to show DW what I want for our fortieth Wedding Anniversary coming up in June.

Anyway, I tried to email you about how well it went over with DW when I fired up the Hova-Bator in the office. She even told me to put a couple more in to make it an even 3 dozen. Ten of the eggs belong to the DIL and hers are all JBGs while mine are a mix all from a cross with a Araucana rooster and some EEs as well as a few others thrown in to make a even 2 dozen + 2 that DW said to add. So an even 3 dozen all together.

Don't ya just love chicken math?

Do you think this is a Blue Swedish? Not sure of what other ducks are blue except for runners.

Pretty sure this is a Pekin but not 100%

Yup, they are filthy babies. Disgusting. Horrid!

I'm now just thinking great, these ducks are going to think they are geese when they grow up. Oh well, our geese and ducks get along fine, so shouldn't be that bad. Maybe.

But yup, get some guineas. I swear, never seen another bird be so tidy about things. They are just a bit on the noisy side. And a little weird. I'm not sure they are stupid so much as just weird.
