I have 30 eggs in lockdown due Wednesday and Thursday. I picked up two Sportsmans today, I put 11 Olive Egger eggs in one of them, I had to take them out of the HB when I put everyone into lockdown. I'm still fighting with the 'temp!

I have LF Lavender AM's coming hopefully tomorrow or the next day, and then Wednesday my grandmother is bringing me 21 chicken eggs and 3 Peafowl eggs to hatch...a friend is meeting her in town in the morning and she is bringing them to me when she comes down here.

Then I have 4 broodies...I don't think I even want to count all their eggs

Woot!! Isn't it funny to see those eggs next to a "normal" egg? They are nothing short of colossal! Keep me posted on this hatch...I'd love to see if you get all splash (IMO splash are so pretty).

I love splashes!!! I hope I get some too, and that they are all as pretty as Wynette's pullet! I am trying to hatch out some splash marans for the Easter Hatch.

These chicks are HUGE compared to the EE chicks my DD's class hatched a few days before. HUGE. I think we are in for it!

I am down to 5 eggs from Wynette! She sent 6, I fit all but one in with my Easter Hatch. I gave the other to my broody. SHE BROKE THE HUGE EGG!

At least I know the others are safe in my bator. She has never broke an egg before. She has 5 other eggs under her and they are fine. I am wondering if it was just too big???

I'm on day 21 today and have 24 out of 26 of my eggs hatched and all look healthy. Only two left to go. My DIL's Jersey black giants are not doing quite as good, but only 2 of her 10 have not pipped yet, as my two remaining eggs have not pipped either, so out of 36 total it looks like it stands at 32 for sure and four maybes. We C!

Compared to last fall's hatch it is, and thank you. I'm happy right now with 24 of 26 but am waiting for those last ones, just in case, but can't open until those pipping of my DIL's make it out. That will leave just 4 total out of 36 and this is a Hova-Bator. All I've heard, some of those Styrofoam bators have a bad rep. I handled my hatching eggs very carefully and made sure I turned them a couple times a day before putting them in the bator. I did not allow the water to go dry for more than a couple hours and watched the temp very close. I had only a 60-65% hatch last fall as I was just learning as I went and didn't read the instruction close enough that time. Also, I think the temp control and turner in the Hova are pretty good as my temp didn't fluctuate more than a fraction of a degree the whole hatch, that I could tell. A few of the eggs from this hatch were actually eggs from some of last fall's hatched pullets. While they were smaller than the older hens, they were all in some of the earliest to hatch, well except for one that is not pipped yet.

Then name a pullet after me and she will be my minion! -evil laugh- JK. But I do always like seeing broodies with their chicks.
