Well yesterday we went to town and when I came home my Sportsman had jumped to 110!! I almost fainted!

I rushed inside and cleaned out my 1588 HB and went ahead and put all the chicken eggs in lockdown ( they're due Tuesday ) and while I was carrying the eggs inside I noticed one already had a pip! Well after I had the HB and the Brinsea packed full of eggs I wondered what I should do w/ the peafowl eggs?
hu.gif
I just had to leave them in the incubator unplugged until the temp dropped down to 100 again! I've GOT to get me another HB!

So today the bantam egg that had pipped hatched and there are 12 other pips...and that aren't even due for two whole days. I think the temp spike had alot to do w/ it.

Anyway, I put the 9 peafowl eggs under one of my broody BOs....I just hope she stays on the nest!

Also today while I was feeding the biddies in the front yard, Sophie, came out from under the hutch w/ a chick!
ep.gif
Well I take her some water and food and out comes another chick, and another, and another, and another........................she has 12+ chicks!
th.gif
Just what I needed...MORE chicks!

Well anyway, the chicks are super cute! I keep trying to count them....but it's inpossible when she is trying to kill me! LOL

Happy Mother's Day all!

Sad thing is I thought I had too many animals roaming the place but after reading these many posts, I feel MUCH better, lol. So taking home a new mutt this afternoon didn't make me feel worried, because I know you ladies have SO many more.
lol.png

Lets see after my count today:

6 Welsummer Hens, 8 Black Australorps, 10 Partridge Rocks, 6 Buff Orpintons, 4 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 6 White Orpingtons, 4 Dark Brahmas and 1 Rooster of each kind ( Not Including the extrememly annoying RIR who wouldn't come in after his first time out of the run.)
10 Pilgrim Geese, fifty-fifty on sex, 3 dogs (2 German Shepherds and 1 mutt), 1 crazy mean barn cat, 2 horses with foals who are sold and 2 ponies.

If your wondering I keep each breed seperate from one another as I like purity in the breeds. Each flock has a nice Chicken Run on the side of my main barn, in view of my porch so I can chicken watch. Each flock is rotated for time on the whole property, so each day another flock gets its time. They all do a fine job in cleaning the place up and breaking up the manure.

Oh and if your wondering that RIR rooster escapee is a coward and has only once managed to reproduce with one of my Buff Orpingtons and I sold them long ago. That RIR rooster is 8 years old, the second oldest of my Roosters with the oldest being my favorite the Partridge Rock.
