I was looking for Pepsi distributors in my area...I don't know how to go about getting a big ol' fridge like you have!

We got ours on Cragislist for $25. The compressor was shot, which was why it was so cheap, but you don't need the compressor to make an incubator! J pulled the compressor out of the bottom, added 2 outlets inside up top, added the thermo, drilled holes for ventilation, and reused the fan that was in it, works like a charm!

I find it depressing that so many people find deals on CL. I find squat. Did you take step by step pics? You make it sound easy to build, but to me it seems a nightmare. How was your first hatch, did you need to tweak it?

Do it, do it, do it! I'm such an enabler!

Featherz...I met Trish today (Trishkabob) and gave her 3 girls. I hope they fit in with her one lonely chicken. She was such a warm and genuinely nice person. If chicken math kicks in for her, I already have in mind the OE, EE and Chocolate Egger girls that are in my brooder.

Everyone needs these to beautify the egg basket! I repeat...I'm such an enabler!

Thanks for that, mugs! I felt bad that I didn't have anything that would fit with her poor lonely chicken.

Don't forget me too if you have any spare olive or other egger girls to spare

I have two ee but I bet I get boring brown eggs.

Writing from my phone..

J actually found it, he is much better at finding things on CL than I am. I find squat, too.

As for step by steps pics, no, but it really was easy. As long as you can wire an outlet and wire the heating elements (we didn't use light bulbs like most people do in a homemade one), you are good. The fan wiring was left alone and J had to rewire the power (it was crappy) then wire the outlets.

First hatch was pretty good. They were eggs from Bob and Gretchen that they brought up to us. I think we had about 90% on them. We haven't had to fiddle with it much at all, other than adjusting the water amounts we have in for humidity.

I will hook you up. Do you want eggs to hatch or started birds?

Oh you enabler you!!! Hmm.. That's a dilemma to be sure. I can't have roos here and it's going to be next to impossible to rehome in winter but hatching is more fun.. Dang, I dunno! I do have an empty coop that would hold eight full sized birds and I have four little bantams to put in it, so there's room for more. PM me and let me know what you are willing to part with!

You are going to make sure ALL of us have 100's of chickens roaming everywhere.

YES! Winter chickens <3

I am making a phone call to finally get a WHITE egg layer! Should I go for two?

What egg basket is complete without white eggs? I am hoping to find a leghorn as friendly as my other girls are!
