We got ours on Cragislist for $25. The compressor was shot, which was why it was so cheap, but you don't need the compressor to make an incubator! J pulled the compressor out of the bottom, added 2 outlets inside up top, added the thermo, drilled holes for ventilation, and reused the fan that was in it, works like a charm!
I find it depressing that so many people find deals on CL. I find squat. Did you take step by step pics? You make it sound easy to build, but to me it seems a nightmare. How was your first hatch, did you need to tweak it?
J actually found it, he is much better at finding things on CL than I am. I find squat, too.
As for step by steps pics, no, but it really was easy. As long as you can wire an outlet and wire the heating elements (we didn't use light bulbs like most people do in a homemade one), you are good. The fan wiring was left alone and J had to rewire the power (it was crappy) then wire the outlets.
First hatch was pretty good. They were eggs from Bob and Gretchen that they brought up to us. I think we had about 90% on them. We haven't had to fiddle with it much at all, other than adjusting the water amounts we have in for humidity.
