Good Evening Peepz!

I had to relocate my Sussex to the front yard, due to them dying out at their other pen. I lost 5 or 6 Sussex so far, so upsetting!

However, they seem to be doing better in the yard.

Romeo, my white peacock has eye issues. Both of his eyes are swollen shut, we've been cleaning his eyes out with salt water and other medications I just hope the poor guy makes it!

He is a real trooper!

I hatched out 5 Guinea Keets, 3 Pearl and 2 Pied. Two more are pipped and one is doing nothing. My FBCM are due Friday, hopeing for a good hatch rate!

None of my Buff/Blue Bantam Orpintons hatched!

3/25 of my Sussex eggs hatched, and then one Splash JG mix chick hatched. So I have 9 chicks (keets included) in the brooder.

I have another 10 Guinea eggs due next week, along with another Sussex egg.


Today I found a TINY Serama egg in the Serama hutch!!!

...Of couse I just HAD to incubate it!

I'm pretty sure my girl, Toughnut layed it, nice girly name, I know!

Moved all my chicks that were in the hutch out to the used to be Sussex pen. This afternoon when I went to feed about 10 chicks had gotten out so I had to chase'em down.

We butchered roosters last weekend. Glad to get them out of the way. A friend came and picked up my 40 mixed chicks, along with 3 other bantam hens. I still would like to rehome some Buff Orpington hens and a few others that I don't want.

Well, I need to go fix myself so supper.

Don't have too much fun while I'm gone!

*hides smile* If I do say so myself Cassidy is quite the handsome guy.... When he's old enough to go out in the coop, I'm sure he'll take wonderful care of his 12 ladies

Wish I was closer to you Fluffy as I would love some more orps. We have been loosing my first pen of RIR and the 2 Sussex slowly but surely.

Someone I know emailed me and asked me to take her 5 chickens in because they rezoned where hse is at, so will be getting them this weekend.

Not exactly sure what they are she bought them from a store because kids were playing with them.
We'll be moving our orps to a bigger run.

The one Dave made is too small for them and so he puts it on CL and has already had 3 people intersted in it. I told him it would go quick and he didn't think it would. I of course think he should have asked more for it....Oh well....I know nothing

Perfect day if I do say so myself. Low 70's nice breeze and a quiet farm for now. Of course it helps that I'm on my wireless about 40 yards away from the house,

. I love her but she can ask alot of questions when I'm trying to get stuff done, so you could say I'm hiding from her questions by doing some of my least favorite work on the place.

Hey, hey, new neighbors in the area stopped by while I was feeding the flock scraps and they seem to be getting chicken fever. Guess they drive by my place at least once a day just to see one of my flocks in the yard, lol. They are a retired couple who in their youth had both lived on a farm and now want to buy some chickens. The older gentlemen didn't know there were so many breeds as he said " All we ever had were white ones".

I smiled and mentioned that I had only been into chickens for around ten years but had learned ALOT. Any hoo, they will be picking up some of my extra Buff Brahma hens.

Fluffy the older retired hobby farm couple bought 5 of my young Buff Brahma Banties hens and I think they will be back. The husband seemed in awe of the many colorful roosters. After talking to him, I guessed he had Leghorns on the farm when he was a kid.​

Hi to all my BYC friends and fellow addicts!

I miss our daily chats!!!! All winter I have been looking forward to this time of year, and somehow I always forget how busy it gets. Soooo tired from all the projects that seem to pile on us daily. Of course, it is partly my fault because I "create" the projects.

Going to put a lot of birds on craigslist today. Hoping to dwindle the flock down severely. I dream now of only keeping 20-30 chickens! Is that possible????
