OMG!!

We just shot and killed the Bobcat in the backyard!!!

I had just gotten out of the shower and I was checking on the newly hatched chicks, when my mother comes in my room and tells me to put some shoes on and get a flash light, 'cause the dogs are barking at something. When we get out the door we hear our Border Collie, Milo growling at something in the tree, and then we see the cat on the low limb growling at the two dogs. My sister, shoots at the cat...and we all thought she missed, but then we saw the cat fall out of the tree. When we got around to where he fell all his guts were hanging out, and he was still alive so she got him again and put him out of his misery! Hopefully this was the only cat around, and I can start letting some stuff out. Okay, I'm off to bed... G'Night!! Don't let the bobcats bite!

Wow about killing a bobcat!

We have racoons, foxes, skunks and several bears, but A LOT of fence repairs and a strand of electric fence seems to be keeping them OUT of the chicken yard, hopefully it stays that way!

I love my broody girls, seems like I am running a home for wayward mothers lately!

My mama Silkie hatched 4 chicks last month!

They are all doing well and are integrated as part of the adult flock (currently 16 chickens and 2 ducks

In this shot, my BIG Silver Ameraucana rooster is seen running away after mama Silkie attacked him for getting too close to HER babies and HER feeder!

Now my Lav OEGB has gone broody (she snuck that one in while I was out of town)! She has 9 eggs under her and is due in 9 days! She is a VERY dedicated broody mama and will not get off the nest for ANY reason, so I give her a little B.O.S.S. and hold the waterer up so she can get a drink.

I'm glad you caught and disposed of that critter! Have you thought of taking the body to a taxidermist? Put him on display... "We got this one and we'll get you, too, if you mess around with OUR chickens!"​
