No.

I had one Black Jersey Giant hen, Black Beauty, that was almost naked, but thankfully she grew her feathers back in recently and will hopefully start laying when I put lights in their coop.

I have quite a few that would probably enjoy so time by our wood stove, one of my Brahma hens is so pitiful she looks like a plucking gone bad.

bless her heart.

Aw, poor thing. It is so cold here. Brrrr rabbit!!! *starts shaking* I have chill bumps all over..so cold! We need to gather up some fire wood so we can build some fires.

The weather can't decide what it wants to do here; when my gas stove needed a part, it was cold as the underside of an iceberg. Now that I have my stove fixed, it's been pleasant. I'm thankful for the nice long Indian summer, though. Gives everyone time to batten down the hatches (and the coops) for the winter.

So, I'm guessing none of you want to hear its been in the mid to low 70's every day but dropped to 49-52 each night here, huh? I have discovered that while I may have been born and raised in MI, blood thins quick here in the south!! In the 50's I used to wear sweatshirts and shorts, ride my bike to 7-11 for a slurpee and not feel it. Now I'm ready to break out the winter coats, gloves and hats!! Virtual head shaking here!

Yeppers! The temps are gonna bottom out here in Mississippi tomorrow. Possible frost in a couple days.

Tonight one of my 4 yo DSs accidentally stepped on one of the baby JB chicks so we are now down to one chick. I don't think I will get my Mother of the Year tiara based on how I handled the whole situation. He and his twin were summarily ejected from the pen ex post haste. When I found the chick dead in a part of the run the kids aren't allowed in in the first place... Fortunately I got the body out before the other birds began cannibalizing it. That would have been beyond sad. DHs only comment was, "Well, I guess we just gained one more chicken." since we had beenlanning on rehoming all of them from the beginning. Now I'm not sure what to do with it!! This day is just not going well.
