That is hilarious!

As far as goats...I truly feel that will be the next craze, just like backyard chickens, people will raise backyard goats. Myself included!

We used to have a whole pack of goats Meagan and we finally had to rehome them because they were such a pain in the behind.

If you get some just be sure you have a SUPER SECURE place to put them. They can get out of just about ANYTHING!!

Secure place to be and something to do. Start collecting old tires and wood to make them someplace to climb, besides your fences.

I'm not going to join the "goat herd collition". Goats just aren't my thing. Now those "mini" cows out there? I want one of those and I have the place for them too.

Goats are a rapidly growing industry in Iowa. There is a serious lack of Goat meat, milk, butter and other products for the influx of Muslim immigrants into the United States. Some of them like to slaughter their animals themselves on my place, which is ok. Its a ritual/religious thing, which I can understand. Either way its a niche market.
I'm not into holloween but you all have fun.

Cute PR, I love goats but don't think I would want someone coming on my property and doing religious stuff with animals. even if they bought them ahead of time, just me though. matter of fact I doubt I would be able to sell them for meat to begin with, I am already seeing I can't sell my Muscovies.

I'd never make it as a farmer. It's strange we process our extra roos but can't seem to part with anything else. Although I'd love to have some goats just to keep our steep property in check. Hey PR which breed would you suggest for such a task? And I know we'd all love to see pictures of all the happening around ya'lls place.

those baby goats were precious.

Poor kid, he didn't do it on purpose. Not like my cousins who took out chicks with a hammer:p I never had chicks as a kid. Now I have bazillion! How many hatched? All of them except 8 eggs I moved to the big Hatcher so I could refill the styro Bator.

With a hammer????

Ewwww!! The poor little chick's body was donated to our Forensics class. The teacher is going to have the kids age the body and determine cause of death. That shouldn't be hard since all his insides are on the outside, poor thing! I'm sure they can determine that at some point pressure was applied in a rapid manner.

Question: My remaining JB chick has black in its wing feathers. I didn't have my JBs as chicks so I'm not sure if that is what they are supposed to look like. I'm starting to wonder if the egg might not have belonged to one of the cochin hens who is in the pen with my JB roo...??

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! My two little Transformers and my little witch had a blast and our neighbors gave them TONS of candy.

Well a meat Goat breed is always an option. You don't have to kill it but Goats like to have at least one other with them. Boers are a prolific breed as they can be found just about everywhere. Myotonic goats are the fainting goats so you'd have the side show if it had the gene and the Last I believe is the Spanish Goat.
If you clip the boys when they are young, they can be a great pet and manage your hill.

Goats are one of those things I'd like to add to my menagerie if we ever find a place with more land. I love my house and yard...the yard just isn't very big. Its not even really big enough for our 3 kids to play in without damaging my (extremely) small garden or DH's plants. I'd love to have more room, but {sigh} that costs more money!! My FIL has goats, miniature cows, donkeys, sheep, pigeons, chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks, etc. on a small hobby farm near the UP in MI. Too far away to visit from NC!!
