Welcome! I'm not familiar with the Isa Browns, but it's funny how people find their favorite. I have several favorites for several different reasons. My favorite "pet" is my Buff Orpington. She is an inquisitive love. I hope to get into showing silkies though.

That's interesting you're not familiar with them because they run RAMPANT around here! Maybe they're called something else in your part of the world? Anyway they're egg/meat birds here, mostly egg though. I love them because I had one named Fanny who would run into the house and climb onto the couch for cuddles. Sadly she ended up laying funny eggs, getting an infection (which I later diagnosed using this site!) and, of course, dying.

Here she is, the one that started my love. <3

I want a Buff Orpington......

I have four of those! The chicken in the picture. They are called Gold Sexlinks. Very good layers. Very sweet.

I just won two auctions for eggs, one on eBay and one here on BYC. I already have 28 chicks in the ginormous brooder, 3 week old chicks in a brooder in the bathroom, two incubators with eggs in 'em....

And I stopped counting my chickens so I wouldn't have to lie when people asked me how many I had. "I dunno."

Oh, and a friend just brought me one of her hens that was bullying others in her small flock, because in MY flock, she'll have several very senior ladies and lots of roosters with which to contend. She's in her segregation quarters. I have one SLW who is one of those senior ladies, recently accepted a rescue GLW hen from someone who couldn't keep her, and now I have a BLW close to point of lay. Kinda nifty to get different versions of Wyandottes!

My flock is extremely varied, because I keep seeing these breeds or color variations I just HAVE to add!
