I got my Welsummers from Whitmore Farm. They won't be selling hatching eggs in 2011, just day olds, so that's no help. My roos and hens are separated, so I have no eggs to offer.

The Australorps I got from McMurray are beautiful and excellent layers. I am pretty sure McMurray ships a minimum of 25 day old chicks, so unless you will be getting something else besides BO's, throw a few of the others on that list. If you can't wait for hatching eggs (understandably) hop on to some of the specific breed threads. Sometimes just asking on the thread works. Sometimes you have to PM and inquire from people directly. Usually they can stear you to someone who can help you out.

I need to stop using my pockets when collecting my eggs from the coop...cracked another in my jacket!

There is another really good wyandotte breeder somewhere that a lot of people have gone through here on BYC... I can't remember the name though I am sure somebody will remember and post it

I do that too! There is nothing worse than that sickening "SQUIcchh" noise when ya lean over or the dog brushes against your jacket pocket while you are petting him! A whole days work (for the hen) gone down the tube!

It was a fertilized egg from my White Orpington pen. I'm ready to start hatching some. I think between silkie/showgirl and WO I have about 8 eggs to hatch. PLUS...I just got my first egg from my EE pen (Black Ameraucana roos in with Black Jersey Giants, Black Australorps, and Black Langshans)...I hope it is fertile!

Tonight I'm sterilizing the bator and firing it up!

I love leghorns! The way their combs flop over to one side like a bad haircut on an aging man! The way lay like crazy and don't eat much! The way they run like crazy all day, and then fall asleep on the roost with their head under their wing and take up 1/2 the space (width-wise) of all the other hens!

I ordered 12+ White leghorn eggs, but my candling showed them all as clears and quitters! I am glad my chick assortment had 4 SCBL in it, or I would be having Leghorn withdrawal!

What color leghorns are you getting?
