Hi Gamma, How are those eggs holding out??? I was so stressed out with them being in transit so long! I'm praying and have my fingers crossed.

Your parakeets are very niced. I used to have cockatiels and one of them I trained to whistle Amazing Grace! Amazing and he talked too!

Then I made a big mistake. I accepted a friend's cockatiels and he quit singing and whistling and talking to me!!! LOL

Well keep me posted on those eggs...Nancy

The eggs are doing great! 3 of them seem to have become "quitters" (1 RIR, 1 BO, 1 BR) but the others are all healthy and I can see their eyes and their half-formed wings. 7 days till the hatch. Wait- I lied about all the others being perfectly fine. One is stuck to the egg turner. On lockdown day I'm gonna try taking it out from the bottom but if it doesn't come out I have a second incubator set up for it. I'll put the entire egg turner in it (unplugged, so it's just an egg holder) and hope that the little guy pecks free. Its a RIR. I suspect at least 10 from the hatch.

Just re-candled them. I guess there were some more quitters I didn't notice. Looks like 9 are alive. Now I suspect 8. I'm crossing my fingers. Come on, chickies! You can do it!

Also candled the RIR that was stuck to the turner from the side (holding my breath to keep the bacteria away from the eggs). It's dead.

I guess it's still pretty good, considering this is my second hatch (first one I knew nothing and all the eggs died), but it's still sad.

Here is a picture of the 2 little crested E.E.s. I am not the best photographer, and I was in a rush to get a new bandaid on the little one and get them back into the incubator.

The yolk did not absorb and a lot of it has leaked out. It is also spraddle legged, I will deal with that tomorrow.

It seems very strong and determined. No other chicks yet...

Thank you for your kind words, I was discouraged this morning. I spent the day cleaning coops and watching chickens, and my outlook is much brighter now!

Thank you, I am sending happy hatch vibes your way.

I too, had a RIR egg that oozed and glued itself and the FBCM egg next to it to the turner, both broke trying to remove. The FBCM was growing. Sad.

I love incubating, but it does raise my stress level. I am doing more, but looking forward to the end! I have had a nonstop headache since I started this, and I have not been able to cook an egg.

One of these days I am going to spring for a fully automated incubator unit, until then...

G'night all my co-addicts. Dream happy dreams of fuzzy chicks, fresh eggs and other clucking goodness!

It is really good!!!! Especially since hrmmm, the USPS turned those priority mail eggs in transit for all those additional days....I'm praying, keep pm'ing me on them...I love the USPS but wish that there was a guarantee on priority mail same as express but maybe say for 4 days...Yours travelled soooo sooo long! as we both know!

Speaking of duck eggs, Anyone need some duck eggs? They are hatching well!!! Love you guys, Goats are kicking the stalls down so I better get to milking! Nancy

Finished early on chores. Husband was running to finish before the rains. I just saw a chicken hawk kill of one of our beloved guineas....I am so sad. I ran to intervene ...but I was not fast enough...We did get the guineas body and will bury shortly. MMM just tough....Well I'm posting below what I think will work on the signatures to see if I got it right....While doing this exercise I think my brain turned inside out! Ah you techies in the world, I so love you!

Nope, I still didn't get it. Well send me back to the dark ages..... If anyone wants to volunteer to show me the err of my ways, I'd appreciate it! And please have a moment of silence for my husband, those guineas were his special darlings and so helpful here as they pick up all the ticks in the garden and other bugs without harming the plants!!!! Have a great day!

Edited now!!! Eureka, I have it! I hope I don't loose it...Let's here it for life long learning! and y'all I'm not a teenager anymore but after my brain turns backside in. I'll go wrap some eggs for shipping....LOL!
