Chicken (Poultry) Addiction Anonymous *Chat Thread*

My name is Allison and I am here for my husband Gavin - he is a chicken addict ... Gavin has taken three days off work to await his new chicks arrival - the eggs are rolling in the bator this morning and one has started pipping - we can hear the peep peeps ....

Not sure when this all started but there is a " drug dealer " on here and she will give you eggs and we all know when a " addict" gets his or her first eggs it is only the start .... you know who you are Egg Woman

Welcome to the thread! It baffles me that more people in the real world don't have chickens. They are so much fun and absolutely addictive!

I was taking a stuffed animal out of their brooder and he starts attacking it - s/he was all fluffed up like the roosters do and ..ugh!

I have a HUGE Black EE chick that hatched, a chocolate egger (Welsummer x BCM), a white silkie that is almost out, 2 White Orpingtons that have pipped, one more CE that has pipped, and another silkie/showgirl that has pipped. There are about 10 more I'm biting my nails over. Hatching is nerve wracking.

Have you calibrated lately???? And don't forget to start each hatch with a fresh battery, it helps! And then on some thermometers (The Springfield kind - I just junk them on a regular basis...They just are not stable)....Yea, it shounds like it's a little low! Also, be sure to count the hour from the hatch, like if you put in at 8 pm go to 7:59 pm 21 days later... That helps me a lot because I usually set a hatch so late at night and get worried a bit to early.
