They are so cool!!! How do you like them so far? I impulse bought 4 Sebastopol goose eggs yesterday and will be hatching them under Silkies that have gone broody. Not sure what the heck I was thinking! I could use advice if you have any!

Thanks guys.

The geese really are neat. They are so smart. They recognize people really well and work a lot on trust. If they don't know you they are really cautious. But on the other hand if they know you it is amazing how well they "listen" They stick by me and listen better than my dogs. I can't believe how fast they grow!! I have Tufted Romans and they are one of the small breeds of geese. I can't imagine how big the 4 week olds of the large kinds get!!

Muggs: You totally have to keep us posted on how it works for a silkie to hatch a goose!! I have to see this!!! I love Sebbies, so pretty!

I will be VERY fascinated to learn how silkies on geese eggs works too! Couldn't try that in Colorado, we have uber-low humidery and "misting" a broody silkie would probably REALLY anger it!

I sat in my chicken yard this morning and held my girl goose 'Honey' for at least 20 minutes, she is such a sweet and SO cuddly! 'Homer' is normally more affectionate, but she wanted up and stayed there for a really long time and cooed at me! I love my geese, although they are REALLY MESSY! My geese live in with my chickens, at 4 weeks old they are bigger than all the chickens, but they keep a respectful distance from each other!

I think I have a 4 &3/4 month old OEGB that has gone broody! SHe has laid 4 eggs and is now sitting on them! She has been there for all day yesterday, all night and is still there! She is on several bantam eggs, a couple plastic eggs and 2 HUGE EE eggs!

I have two bantam mutts that keep setting in the nests. They sit for around 2-4 hours then leave when it's time to roost.

If they do decide to stay on the nest..I'll give them eggs. I've really wanted to hatch out some of my own eggs for the last few months.
