Ok. An even 8. You keep telling yourself that. We'll keep enabling you til your coop is FULL.

(I ordered 5, am looking for 2 silkies for broody purposes and just emailed someone who is downsizing and looking for home for some of his hens and my coop isn' t even BUILT YET...chicken math will catch up with you too)

Just finished the brooder today. It's a nice 2' by 5' feet....plenty of room....must restrain....MUST RESTRAIN!!!!!!

That's TEN (10) square feet. That's 10 (ten) chicks, right? Some of them might be roosters. Better get 12, just in case.

I need to put a sign on my forehead...." Don't feed the Chick Addict " so that whenever I walk anywhere near a chick, people know to quickly steer me in the other directions, blindfolded AND with ear mufflers on!

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

I'm getting 18+ Splash/Blue Orpington Test eggs this week.

Then we can be maybe Blue Orp buddies! I may be getting a Blue Orpington sometime for showing. The breeder responded- turns out he couldn't respond to my PM's because of the BYC crash

Mine will hopefully lay Olive Green eggs when they begin to lay.

These are Test eggs so I only have to pay shipping.

I wanted broody hens, because my experience with incubators was not good!

So I got a broody hen from Daisychick.

Then my 4 & 1/2 month old OEGB went broody.

Then my best layer, an EE named 'Simone', went broody yesterday!

Now 'Blondie', my other EE that laid all winter, is beginning to linger in the nest box for several hours! That is how 'Simone' started, just gradually spending more time on the nest until yesterday, when she didn't get out of the nest and began clucking and puffing!

If they keep this up, I will have NO eggs to put under broodies!

I guess the moral to this dilemma is "may you get what you wish for"!

Seems that it is contagious. Another instance of not "being careful what you wish for"

Wish you lived closer I would take the Hen that started this whole thing from you. I need a broody.
