No GSL's??? Oh, if you have RSL's and BSL's, you MUST have GSL's to go along!

Seriously.... you say that you DON'T have one of these dirt-and-yogurt-covered faces?

I just shipped out LF chickens for the first time...that's a nerve wracking experience. And expensive. The Post Master didn't know what to do with herself...she was holding the box at arms length all the while getting "creepy shivers"! She says that chickens just freak her out! Ha ha. Not sure what kind of twisted mind I have, but I left the PO grinning ear to ear, as I knew those chickens were going to be sitting next to her for an hour or two. If only I could have been a fly on the wall to watch!

Needless to say, I appreciate chicken minded people more and more!

You should have used "chicken math" and saved a lot of time. No matter how you count them, it always comes out to "about 10". HAHAHAHA!

That's my story......and I'm stickin' to it.

Yup. We have 10 to the x power. What, I'm supposed to count heads????

So funny! I had some people over here the other day looking at a bike we had for sale. They of course saw the chickens and geese and walked closer to the pens. Totally not country folk, because they said "ewwwww look at the poop"
hmm.png
and then the lady looked sick to her stomach and said "what do you do with them?" I said well they lay lots of yummy eggs and I want to also sell hatching eggs. Then she said "you eat their eggs, ewwww"

Yes my dear and the eggs you buy from the store come from chickens too and those chickens poop too.

I can't imagine being that kind of person. I love love love being a country girl!

This reminds me of people who don't realize an animal is slaughtered before meat is sold in the store! Scary to know how many people have no idea where their food comes from...quite literally!

...along the same lines...

A man moved from a big city to the suburbs in NH. He got so annoyed with the deer crossing in his backyard and across the road, that he went to the town and demanded they MOVE THE DEER CROSSING SIGN on the street to an alternate location, so the deer would know not to cross there anymore! D'oh!!!!

Good one on the deer crossing sign!

Hey Muggs: My hatch is over. I put 7 of yours in lockdown and I got 5 of those to hatch. The others were fully formed but I had some rollercoaster aircells so I think those guys got stuck and couldn't zip

But on a good note I love love love the ones I got to hatch!

2 silver Am
2 Wheaten Am
1 OE
What colors have you been getting on the OE ones? This one looks black but in the light it has a redish hue to it too. I hope it's a girl

Your OE is either BCM/Ameraucana or Lav Ameraucana/Welsummer. The Lav/Wel chicks by all appearances look black...solid black...and feather in a partridgey brown. Keep an eye on the wing feathers...that will tell you more. The BCM/A's usually have yellowish-white down on their bellies.

Also...if your chick is a Lav/Well, when she is mature, cross her to your Lavender Ameraucana roo and you could get lavender partridge feathered birds. It is something I'm working on...I just think that would be so pretty!

Did we decide on a ship date for more eggs? I didn't write one down yet.

Yes, you were going to ship me some for the Easter Hatch, please and thank you.

Which would be a ship date of March 28th please.

Oh and I do think the OE I got from you was from your Wellie. so I really really hope it is a girl and then I can cross it with the Lav.

My name is jen..and I am a chickenolic...I grew up on a farm..we always had some backyard chickens but never kept them long..it seems like everytime I grew attached..they "ran" away! The real addicition started about 5 months ago..my friend is a realtor..was looking at a home that had been forclosed on...in the back yard stood a cute looking chicken coop..when she went closer..she heard this small peeping...called me and I went home with Miss Gretta..a Rhode Island Red that is our queen of the roost. Next came a trip to a auction..where 2 pathetic looking chickens stood in the corner...with most of their feathers missing. So now I have Miss Bella Blue, and Miss Maggie may. Told myself that is where I would stop..now I have 17 baby chickens that were rescued in my living room. I swear that is gonna be it..only one of the baby chicks is a Roo..so mabye next spring we will have some new chicks...and then I swear that will be it..but I really want some big fluffy looking ladies..but after that it will be it..but..if the other ladies are older..I may need some new ladies for eggs..but after that I swear that will be it!! I also have 3 labs..2 housecats..1 very large..very spoiled bunny.
