I have room for 42 eggs on my turner, but only have 36 eggs on it this year. I will candle for the first official time tomorrow when I go to lock down. Because there is way more room than eggs I will probably try to cut down some cartons to lay the eggs on just to try to keep my nerves down, if for no other reason, better go do it now or I'll be rushing around tomorrow trying to candle and remove the turner at the same time.

My wife played a really nasty joke on me this morning. She called me and said two of the eggs in my incubator were cracked opened. All I could think was, two had exploded and I would probably loose the whole batch due to contamination. I was in a kind of panic, then she said, "April Fools"! I was so relieved, and angry at the same time. Notice I called her "wife" not DW as in darling wife?

I'm hoping for a 100% hatch of all that make it to lockdown as being alive and kicking, That link is to the Brinsea Octagon 20 w/all the goodies, Should I just go ahead and order it now as payback for the sick April fools joke?

Howdy y'all!

I missed all my friends on BYC while I was in Las Vegas!

The internet was $11.99 a day there!

Everywhere else in the country, the internet is like running water in a hotel room, INCLUDED!

Oh, well, I enjoyed NOT having to carry my laptop through airport security.

All my chickens survived, but they were hungry, the feeders were empty.

They are all BIGGER! I can't believe how much the grew in the last week!

I delivered the RSL pullet last Saturday on the way to the airport. We met at the BIG R in Fountain.

There was a lady there that had a turkey she was bringing into the store so I got to carry the turkey into the store!!

I guess the "right" way to hold a turkey is under the armpits lol

It kicked up some shavings at me!

OMG I have so many chicks. I can't even count them. I think there's at least 30 and I've got a few hovabator shrinkwraps in 'icu' (meaning I zipped for them and put them in warm paper towels). Only four NN so far - I hope I can get at least two more!


I have two ecoglows side by side and so far so good.

Oh look! My first 'home grown' baby. I am pretty sure this chick is my blue cochin rooster X my EE hen. And s/he is cuuuuute!

Yes normally a poultry doesn't hurt you if held this way, Now I'm living proof that a rooster can go crazy,,,we moved a rir out of a turkey pen and I was holding by arm pits and he managed to do a flip and give me a 3 inch gash on my hand...ugh, it's infected but getting better every hour...I hope!
