I've never had a problem getting rid of day olds within hours (although I get flakes too - they usually write emails like 'U GOT CHIX? I WANT CHIX'), and I was able to rehome two groups of five baby roos somehow. I think I got lucky on that second group - five turken roos!

Also rehomed my big Puff Daddy roo since he was just too big and heavy for my girls. I think it was the good pic that got him a placement. This time, my first few ads for a half blind roo went unnoticed, so I added in two hens and raised the price from $0 to $20. THEN I got emails. The hens are 11 months old, the roo is 18 weeks old. so $20 seemed fair, especially with a 'special needs' chicken. Person who is taking them appears to not be using them for dinner either.

I tried to invite her to BYC since she is getting chickens from somewhere else and had all sorts of questions (the other roo she was given has a bald butt - poor guy!).

My little 15 week old Ameracauna roo started crowing at 11 weeks. Eek. lol

I begged my dad to buy me chickens for a year and a half. Wow, I must have been desperate. Haha

$20 is more than fair for 2 laying hens! And...a free special needs roo. What happened to his eye?

Hi, my name is anderson8505 and I have a chicken addiction. I've owned 11 chickens for 5 months now and I am planning coop 2. Whenever I can turn the conversation to chickens, I do. My friends also want chickens but haven't taken the plunge. I "encourage" them. I do so shamelessly and often. Chickens are like crack. My husband mentioned that my young roo crows all the time. My answer was "yes, isn't it great?" with a big grin. I often remind him that chickens are cheaper to keep than horses or sharks (my other loves), and that they are more politically correct to eat if you have to. I have two chicken bumper stickers on every car in the driveway, I didn't ask if I could put them on the vehicles. (mine, DH & DD).

I believe the first step is admitting you have a problem. The second step is to get more chickens, and the third step is to crush anyone that tries to stop you.

Thank you for listening to my story. I continue to lurk and read yours.

My poor roo was pecked in the eye about two months ago. Now he's all pretty but the other roo tries to poke out the other one if i put them together. they were hatched together and have plenty of ladies but oh well... I'm hoping to keep my ee roo since he's gorgeous but he may turn out to be a jerk so he'll end up on cl too..

Forgive the poor punctuation, not used to typing much on my tablet :)

Have you eaten your Guinea eggs? If so, how are they vs. duck or chicken eggs?

They taste just like chicken eggs, you can't tell the difference.

I have 4 females and I'm getting 3-4 eggs daily just for my guineas. All of they are GREAT layers. Alot of times when I fix scrambled eggs I use Guinea eggs, nobody can even tell the difference.
