I got my very first Marans egg this weekend from my splash pullet!!!!

I took a pic of it next to a regular brown egg from my BA girl.
It is not too dark, but it is the darkest egg that has ever been in my nests.

This is what I've been working on today...he's not very easy to photograph, the warped inner layers are picked up better than the outer layer. I used all recycled scrap bits of chicken wire...and turned them into an elephant. I will wrap him in a grapevine treatment later. He's 3.5 ft tall. Hoping to put him in the garden at some point.

Oh Wow!, Meagan that is sooo cool! Will it be living grapevine or the dried kind?? I like it! Can you make me a giraffe and send it right over please.

Cass...I like the idea of a living creation...especially after trying to wrap it in grapevine! That. Was. A. Nightmare! I cut it all off. A friend gave me this incredible morning glory...the edge of the flower is dark purple goes to white, then HOT pink in the middle. That would be so striking if it worked out. I think I'm too late in the year to start anything though.
