About 1/2 of my 1 month old and 3 week old chicks got out this morning from their cage and run (there's 37 altogether). When they saw me outside they all went running up to me! I love when they do that!

Did you notice they downgraded the Storm? Hmm? Now you can come to the picinic

I'm keeping my eye on it. We're doing what we can here, so we don't have to do it all on Sunday. I'm really worried about the wind and what is loose around the yard...more so because the wind is bad here on a normal blustery day with no tree breaks. We've had an ez up (staked to the ground) taken from our backyard 100 feet into the road a few years back...that was from a slight gust.

(BTW...it cracked one of the support beems...to replace one small section cost $33 plus S&H. To buy and entire NEW ez up cost $99...I never understood that.) If it is 70mph wind like they predict, we'll be in a world of hurt if we didn't plan ahead and take care of business. And, it figures that Saturday is supposed to be gorgeous...

All locked down for hurricane. Eggs in bator started rocking this morning. Any advice for what to do when they cut power off? Most likely that will be tomorrow morning which is only day 19. It is both warm and humid in the workroom where I keep the bator, but probably cooler than min temp. Love some suggestions, please!! Told dh I was going tout them in my bra if necessary. Still hasn't stopped laughing...not flattering.

The bra method WOULD work! The good thing is that at this stage they start generating their own heat (that helps a little)...do what you can to help insulate that incubator should the power cut out. Put blankets on it, a hot water bottle in it (not sure how you would warm up the water?)...and if all else fails, go ahead and put them under your shirt!

If necessary I will! I've been watching those little buggers move for a week now! I'm not going to give up on them!
