Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Do you sell everything you take, or does it just depend on what ya have? What is it like? I've only been to cow auctions...

I have only gone to the one near me once, but at this one you just drop the animals off and they send you a check in the mail. I asked on the phone and they said 'everything sells'. LOL. I got a check in the mail for $1.25 for two young roos. Woohoo! In the money!

I can imagine that Texas humidity could make it hard to do a dry hatch! Not a problem here on the southern east coast. I like the look of the Brinseas, but you are sooo right about the price. For my first store bought bator, that price makes me nervous.

My Japanese Bantam roo tried to take out my DH with spurs he's too young to have. I think I'm going to convince DH to go out at night when roo is calm and bedded down and hold him a bit and see if that helps. I'd hate to have to get rid of him.

I went ahead and added some water to the HB...I keep losing my Serama eggs..I figure they're just drying up. I fired up the Sportsman. I stuck 4 more Guinea eggs, 1 Serama, 2 Golden Buffs, and 2 Green eggs. We shall see what we get....oh I also added a wee bit of water. We shall see how this hatch turns out.

I have one BTW Jap hen named Button. She is a cutie. If you were closer to me I'd give her to me. At one point I thought I'd like to breed them, but I've got too many other breeds I'm trying to work with at the moment.

Today I meet my wife for lunch, in part because her school is close to a place selling chicks. I was under orders not to buy any more, but I just had to go get a water bowl for the chicks I bought Saturday, can't find the one I used with the last batch. Wouldn't you know it, the straight run R.I.R.'s were on sale for a buck fifty. None the less, I now have 5 BR's and 4 R.I.R's that are about a week old.

Welcome! A buck fifty?! Not bad! Be careful...we are AWESOME enablers!

Aspen, I already wish I lived closer to some of you! There is one big breeder in the area, I met him at the last chicken swap, but I forgot to get his contact info!!

I know!! I have met 3 BYC'ers in my "area" sort of. Then I know several people around here that have chooks as well. I met one major Orpington breeder pretty close to me ( 1 1/2 hours). He has Chocolate, Lemon Cuckoo, Black and White Orpington Bantams and then some other breeds. He was selling his flock of Sussex so I bought them...then he decide to sell his flock of Buff and Black Orps so guess who bought them..'lil 'ole me of course!

And now..because of him I'm getting a trio of Lemon Cuckoos..and at some point I AM going to get some Chocolates!!

He is a super nice man, and he has really helped me out alot. He knows all the genetics etc behind the chickens..if I wonna know something I just have to ask him! Hehe I'm really lucky to have a man like him in the area. Other than Don I don't really know any major breeders in the area.

Yes, my cows, yes I have many cows. I can kill my animals if need be. I can care for and pet my animals and at the end of the season eat them. I guess for those who are...soft in that area you could always kill each others livestock and eat them to free yourselves from heart ache, lol.

One of my friends raises Seramas...he says they are a nightmare to hatch, especially shipped eggs.
