Chicken (Poultry) Addiction Anonymous *Chat Thread*

so sorry about your chick, and sad for the lonely little one left. Hope you have better luck next time.
Today is the official hatch day for my bunch in the back bedroom, most of them have already hatched. There might be about 8 eggs left, so I will give them a couple of days before I set the next bunch.

Thanks for the hugs Aspen & H2P!

H2P: How many did you have hatch altogether?

Aspen: How's the new trailer coming along? All set up?

Poor son has been crying on and off. Then he'll run up to me and say, "sorry momma! Sorry for the baby chick.". What a horrible "this is why we tell you..." moment!

We haven't done anything to it, other than look at it. Today it poured down rain and snow, and was too cold and freezing to do anything. I have a feeling this will take awhile... *sigh*

Bless his heart, so sorry he has to go through this, but I'm sure a life lesson in there somewhere.

We have been and if someone asks him about it he just says, "sorry! I'm so sorry! Sorry for the baby chick!". As far as why you should listen to your parents examples go it was a doozy! He does big sad eyes REALLY well too!

Poor kid, he didn't do it on purpose. Not like my cousins who took out chicks with a hammer:p I never had chicks as a kid. Now I have bazillion! How many hatched? All of them except 8 eggs I moved to the big Hatcher so I could refill the styro Bator.

Well ladies the wife is going crazy remodeling the house. Catalogs everywhere and contractors coming in and out. Chicken barn is done along with the new milking parlor. I'm getting more into Goats as I met some clients through another client and they are from the Middle East and India and Pakistan. They work or attend at the nearby University and I had some wethers fattening up and sold one and the word spread. Now they are asking about Goats milk and I'll be buying some milk goats but there are other providers in the area as well.
Chickens are doing well with more room in the remaining runs. I kept about six purebred flocks, besides my four hundred RIR's in the super barn. The super flock still aren't old enough to lay but should be starting in a few months. Wish I had a video camera one day when "Stupid" my one RIR rooster walked by the barn full of ladies and started crowing and strutting. I was affraid the old rooster might have a stroke suddenly finding a full barn of teenage hens, lol.

That is hilarious!

As far as goats...I truly feel that will be the next craze, just like backyard chickens, people will raise backyard goats. Myself included!
