*** Chicken Quiz ***

My thinking is that probably not all of Cackle's breeder birds look like the ones in the pictures. There could very well be birds with more of the red that these came from.

I'm just guessing like everybody else. There are folks on this site that raise Yokohamas, you might search them out and get their opinions. And they'd be the ones to ask about temperament, though that can vary from bird to bird. You also could just wait for their tails to grow out, you'd probably be better able to tell then.

I have my answers. Well, partially. My rooster is a Blue Red Yokohamas. He has a triple comb but it is hard to see from the picture. He is about 7 months old.

I found this picture here on the forum.

I think fast forwarding time and adding a tail and this could be my rooster. Cackle Hatchery didn't show this as one of their colors but I think it's very pretty. I think of fishing lures every time I look at him.

The hen I should of put with him looks just like this one from their website.

I had thought she was just a white bantam pullet...

It seems that Cackle Hatchery normally puts pairs in their surprise orders. I've known of others who brought from them and they ended up with lots of different pairs of chickens.

Thank you for everyone's input especially BeckyLa. I never would of thought!!!

But I have one more question. So, what breed is the original pullet?

I was right??? As for the pullet, I assumed that since her coloration is very similar to the roo that she is the same breed. If not, I have no clue...

I checked out the site you linked to ChicknGurl. I had decided that she wasn't Yokohamas because her leg color wasn't the same. But I noticed on the link, there are few white chickens shown and some have yellow legs and some have green legs. So I would suppose it may work that way for other colors. How confusing. Maybe I'll just have to wait until she is a little older to know for sure. I just have to get the pecking stopped to see her tail. Right now I have several quarantined for bad behavior out of the egg pen.

I have another white pullet that looks exactly like the picture from the hatchery and the roo looks just like the other member's rooster. I'll be making a larger pen for the pair which could include her. (I'm getting to where I'm having a lot of "specialty pens." Think wood duck habitat, taller pen with perches for the yokohamas, pair pens for the Buttercups, Hamburgs & Cochins plus the egg big pen)

I plan to reduce the size of my flock to make it less problematic. But the different breeds are so interesting... On my pullets, I have a Houdan, Spitzhauben, Buff Orpington, a couple of EE and Cuckoo Maran among others. Just no roos.

I had the same issue, many breeds some not paired. I finally decided I would just stick with a few to concentrate on for improvement and preservation.

It was a difficult, but I had to do something because keeping them was becoming more of a job than an enjoyable hobby.

I was confused on the different leg colors as well, but I'm not used to seeing anything but red shouldered yokohamas. I didn't even know there were other colors.

When they get their tails, you should post more photos. They will be absolutely beautiful!
