Chicken Run Building Question- Predator Protection

Q- I'm building my first run, could I line the bottom with chicken wire or some other kind of mesh to help keep the predators out or would that interfear with the chickens and hurt their feet?

IMO better to apron around the outside, rather than put wire underneath. Yes if they dig down to it they can possibly hurt themselves.
