Can any one give me feedback on using treated lumber on the outdoor run? Would it be safe for the chickens?

I thank you. I could always use Amish rough cut lumber.

Thanks for the info. I want to use treated lumber I am located in western New York, all kinds of crazy weather. But I'm glad to hear that they removed arsenic from treated lumber. So your chicks are all good?

Arsenic used to be used in pressure treated lumber - no longer. I think your chickens will be fine - mine always have been.

Redsoxs is correct. EPA regulations have taken the arsenic out. My understanding that the new process is some sort of copper based fungicide. I am sure its not great for them, however, I have never seen my hens pecking at the wood in their run. That doesn't mean they haven't, I've just never seen them do it. I used PT for the run and NON-PT for the hen house.

I'm a worry wart, I wouldn't want to take a chance.

They will be fine. No issues. I have used treated lumber for anything that will touch the ground and the chickens don't bother it, don't really go near it, etc. They will be fine.
