Chicken slowly is falling

Oh I'm so sorry!

If she has a bad odor then she has infection somewhere. If you feel that she is in pain or suffering, it's a kindness to let them go. I know it's a hard decision to make, but I'm sure you will make the right call.

If you want to give her more time, you need to find out where the smell is coming from - a wound that is infected/maggot infested, a vent that is prolapsed/infected and something like canker inside the beak are some of the common things that smell bad. You can look for those and let us know.

Just know, if you decide to let her go, I support you in whatever you decide - I have found once that decision crosses my mind, it usually is the right thing to do (for me). It's sad, but I don't want any of my sweet birds to suffer.
Thank you.

I think I’m going to let her just pass in peace because if I try to do anything I don’t want to make her more stressed. I haven’t checked on her yet this morning.

Thanks!

Poor baby! I’m so sorry you are going through this. :hugs
Thank you. :hugs

She never liked me (or anyone) but still it’s hard to see a chicken, rooster or hen, go through this.

I just lost my favourite rooster to a heart attack a few days ago and now this...

When you have chickens though you have to prepare yourself for these kind of things. It’s not as easy as having a dog or cat when it comes to sicknesses.

Thank you.

I'm very sorry:hugs

Sometimes they can linger for a while, if you can bring yourself to do it, it would be kinder to go ahead and put her out of her misery.

I’m so sorry. She may have vent gleet, but I don’t understand why she’s paralyzed, if that is the case. She may not be able to move them because of pain. Did we already ask jf her abdomen is swollen? Sadly, I think she may be near the end. I’m sorry.
Her abdomen seems to be hard but a bit squishy.
Yes I think so too. :-/

I put on some rubber gloves last night and tried to stick my pinkie finger up her vent but I could get but farther because I was gagging and she was starting to freak out. When I took my finger out all this white thickish gooey stuff came out (reminded me of egg whites) . If there was an egg how would I know what it feels like and how would I even get it out?

Thanks for your help all, the hen died this morning.
I'm sorry to hear about your hen:hugs

The white gooey stuff sounds like urates which is usually mixed in with the poop - since she was sick she may have been backed up a bit as well.
If an egg is stuck you should feel it about 1-2" inside the vent - if it's a hard shell egg, you would be able to feel the shell, a soft shell egg may feel like tissue.
