Hello everyone! Thank you all very much for your replies! It turns out when taking her to the vet today, that the “prolapsed” looking thing on her vent was a growth which was inside her and had previously been causing her egg laying problems in the past, and that it popped out some time this year which is why she can now lay eggs. The vet said that she will probably have to have an operation to remove it, but she is currently on antibiotics so hopefully she won’t get an infection. I’m very sorry I couldn’t provide any photos because she wasn’t cooperating and I didn’t want to stress her. But thank you all for your replies! We’re isolating her until she gets better. :)

Glad you were able to seek vet care.
I hope all goes well, please keep us posted on her progress.

Today she has had an operation to cut it off - they couldn’t remove all of it but most of it is off. The vet says she’s recovering and she’s coming home later today :)

Glad that she is recovering!
Was the vet able to give you more information about the growth?
They said it was a polyp? (I think that’s how you spell it) and it was on the inside of her but grew so it popped out and was causing her discomfort. It’s not harmful, but if it gets infected it could have potentially killed her so they gave us the option of either keeping her on antibiotics for the rest of her life (until she becomes resistant and will probably die from an infection) or removing it. I’m glad we decided to remove it whilst she’s healthy! She seems to be recovering well :)
