Chicken Stock/ Craft Stock for Nov. 8th Tractor Supply Milford NH

Wow. Can't believe you got it that quick, Purr.
Yep the froggie and the scarab I made myself out of Polymer Clay. I was having ideas and wanted to make something out of it.

The strangest thing happened on the way back from the PO, though. some old guy smacked the back of my car. His Infinity got toasted and my little Focus Xicoh, has a scraped bumper and a dangling muffler.

Maybe we could rotate the Swaps at the many TSC stores opening up. We also have one that opened in Tilton along with the Chichester one, I even saw one opening up in Berlin.

Oh wow.....as I am writing this there is a TSC ad on the television...haha. Maybe TSC could be known for their Chix Swaps and Craft Fairs....good home town people showing the farm side of life......cool!

I just hope every month would not take the novelty side of it away.

Purr...your paintings are beautiful!

I worried about the Novelty wearing off too but was greatly surprised with the last Swap.
I believe it had only been a month prior to putting theother one together and we had 20 % more venders( for lack of a better words , its early forgive) than the previous swap, plus we had many more interested people looking to fill their coops.
I lost count of how many off the streets and sellers that asked when the next one was so they could be sure to be ready.

Chichester store is on the 6th and I guess they feel they can go it alone, their choice, I offered up a swap for them and the Manager never bothered getting back to me.
Last night I found out they were going ahead with their GO and asking breeders up in the area to just show up. Which is fine with me I do wish them Luck.
We have fully planned to jump stores so everyone in all areas get to have one in a TSC near them, but My hands are pretty tied when a Manager wont respond.
Maybe Wendy and I can put together a ChickenSwap Mafia LOL. only joking.(then again

)

TSC is all about Ranching, Farming and such , it cetainly does not hurt their image a bit to host Swaps , actually projected sale generally double when we Swap at their locations.

grr one more edit and I will ban myself.

dh and i are very interested in the swaps. he would like to do woodworking. nestboxes, coops, etc. i do many crafts but have more ideas than time. of course we also want to sell birds. my input on the processing mostly matches wendy's. i know it is part of the chicken thing but do not want to watch it or hear it. if it was in a tent away by itself i would deal with it. BUT, if anyone ever bought one of my birds and walked over to the processer with it i would be so done with swaps. i will be selling silkies mostly. one of the reasons i picked them is because i want to raise pets not food. i really would freak if i heard a bunny scream. if you process chickens sooner or later someone will process bunnies. i also wonder how tsc would feel if a customer complained about processing in the parking lot. could it end the swaps. as a customer if i knew people would be killing animals in the store parking lot i would not shop that day. many people will be grossed out. i have to ask myself will this help the swaps or hurt the swaps.

Processing animals at swaps would be a bad idea I think. There are folks who go looking for meat animals, but I think the majority are there to buy and sell pets/breeding animals. We process our birds & rabbits here on our farm, but even I would feel a bit uncomfortable if someone was killing animals at a swap. Something like that should be done at a slaughter facility or on farm, not in general public. Plenty of cultures around the world are used to public animal processing at outdoor markets & such, but it's not something most Americans are accustomed to or would want to see.

I totally understand where everyone is coming from . this is why I asked for opinions before it became set in stone.

on the other hand, which came first the dinner or the pet?

If you think of it this way , in our most recent society people have taken the farm animal out of the food chain to make pets, Now I have no problem at all playing with my food.
chickens rabbits, quail, pheasant, cows, pigs the list goes on and on , google any of the above and your going to find a rescue forum for said animal being " rescued " from slaughter, never minding deformaties etc.

while Silkies in some cltures are a delicacy , I would never eat something with black skin.
not too many people could ever eat a silkie chicken, why? black skin , small meat to bone ratio,"cuteness factor?

I will on the other hand set up something here at my house for such, that way anyone wanting to learn how to process their animals can learn with out having to gross out the sqeemish.
I will set this up with people who have shown an interest in such by private PM's and emails for those I have.
How ever I WILL NOT advertise it publically.
