My dh thinks I am nuts when I give him a hard time about ordering or making 2 "starch" foods with lunch or dinner. But I had a nutritionist when I was pregnant.
I am screwed if I ever become a diabetic. I am allergic to the "current" manufactured insulin's out there. Found out the hard way.
I was pregnant and had gestational diabetes. Couldnt get it under control with diet. And I TRIED! So they put me on insulin shots at 7 months. Once a day, in the thigh. Good thing I have no issues with needles. I can now stick myself with no hesitation
Anyhow. The insulin injections werent helping either and I began feeling off. More than I already did that is. So they upped my dose. First night I took the higher amount I began getting incredibly strong contractions. when I went to my ob the next morning and told her she put me on the monitor and took some blood. She came back in and told me "No more insulin!" Just "watch your numbers and NEVER become a diabetic"
I still test daily. Even though I dont "have to" And since my heart attack last Feb. I check my bp daily as well. I changed my diet again after that scare. Am now on a blood thinner since my cardiologist says with my paternal family history(Grandparents - heart attacks and killing strokes in the 40's Dad with MS and killing stroke at 57)I am better off on it than off. Plus I bought a treadmill that I use. Not as often as I want to, but I still make it a point to walk as much as I can. Next year I am planning on exercising the horse more as well. Both he and I need it. Man the flab on us both!
