Those may be lesions on the epithelial tissue on the exterior of the intestines. There may be matching lesions on the inside tissue of the intestine. This would point to necrotic enteritis caused by the worm load.
If this is the case, and I'm only guessing it is, the hen died from necrotic enteritis due to intestines no longer having the integrity to process nutrients due to the death of these tissues.
