If there's any interest in the following, I can come to the swap and meet up. Please make a note here or PM me- if no note of interest, I won't be there as it's a good hour from me.
Wanted: I'm looking for a few/couple Pekin ducks, near to or fully grown.
A turkey or two, also.
These will be for the freezer, not for pets.
Would gladly make trades.
Also Wanted: Garden produce to trade for chickens or purchase. Prefer things I can put in cans or freeze, but would also consider storage roots and squashes. Looking for beets (whole plant) and tomatoes in particular.
Black Australorps- going on 5 months old, birds. I have a veritable gaggle of them. (Maybe 20+.) Anyone interested? This is a new-to-me breed and I'm not crazy about them- they're a bit to skittery and frettful for my likes. Looks like the bulk of them are hens. I'll be keeping a few for the layer coop, but the rest will be going in the freezer beginning next week. Just wanted to check and see if anyone out there has a burning need for this breed in particular. They're supposed to be the #1 best all around heritage farm chicken in versitility and thriftiness. They are good foragers, I'll give them that. But they're tough to catch and pretty savvy. Tractor raised. Very healthy flock. $5. Buy 5 get one free!!!
Showgirls- I have a couple of cull babies someone might want as a pet or conversation starter in their flock. Old enough not to need a heat light. May be frizzled- it's hard to tell at this age. Blue, black, and white. $15/ea. Email for pics- serious inquiries only, pls. All NPIP certified flock. Super CUTE!
New Hampshire Reds- hens- About 3 weeks from point of lay. Six total- nice size for a backyard egg producing flock. Perfect health. Fairly friendly- much more so than the Australorps. Also tractor raised. Would prefer to sell the flock of six all together for $45.

By the way, here's a bit about Black Australorps that I ripped from the McMurray site:
This breed originated in Australia developed from Black Orpingtons imported from England; and the emphasis of the breeding program was on egg production without sacrificing too much in size and meat quality. Some sensational results were made in the Australian program, and one hen set a laying record of 364 eggs in 365 days. Introduced into this country in the 1920's, they have become useful and popular and are certainly one of the best layers of light brown eggs of all the heavy breeds. A flock of Black Australorps with their glossy black plumage which has a greenish-purple sheen and their larger than average bright red combs make an unusually handsome sight. They are big birds, cockerels weighing 6 to 8 pounds at maturity and pullets 5 to 7. They have a pinkish white skin and plump bodies which dress out nicely once the birds have their final plumage. Pullets mature early and many will be in production between 5 and 6 months of age. They are quiet, gentle, and stand confinement well. Baby chicks are black with a good deal of white in the underparts and small white patches around the head and wings. We have handled this breed for years and think it is one of the best of the heavy breeds.

I put an add in Uncle Henery's and CL for the pair of Ameraucana mix and the Russian Orloff. I hate to see the pair eaten, or the RO placed in a household from any other origin (ha ha) but where its one of those breeds that are on the conservation list, I'd like to see a good Russian home...(again, making a wise remark). I figured I'd try to display them at the Farmington Fair this next month, If he goes, great, if not, I dunno.

Of course I missed the Oxford one. That would have been too easy since I live there. but I hope to make the Augusta one. I'll probably bring a trio of Californian bunnies that I hope to find a home for. (Need the real estate they're hogging for a new litter about to wean.)

I'm excited, I did get a couple baskets made and will be for sale. I still have paper work from the Maine Extention service and other informational CD's and whatnots. They are free, also the no farms, no food bumper stickers will be available free also.
I'll be bringing Mr. Trouble -aka Scooter, Lucy and Jr. I love the tail gait that lifts up, nice roof for us to sit in under.
