Hi All,

Totally brand-spankin' new to the world of raising chickens. Friend just built a coop, and my wife is way into the idea of helping out. I figured a great Mother's Day present would be to get her her own chickens. The coop owner just gave me the green light.

So, if I show up at one of this weekend's swaps, what should I buy and how do I get them home to Concord?

Thanks in advance!

I am sure whatever you pick for her she will love them and be hooked on chickens forever.
There will be plenty to choose from at either swap this weekend.
If you decide on babies, they will fit into a box and if you want something a little bigger, a cat carrier or dog crate works well.
Again welcome to the swaps and BYC

I will have muscovy and runner duck eggs as well as the stuff I have listed at the bottom of the page. each breed lives in a different pen. our new coop design puts most of the chickens at waist height so there is no possibility of visiting.duck pens are about 4 feet away from each other. I will custom blend the eggs so you can get any quantity of any breed.

I put some from my red girl in thr bator and they are all growing. she lives with my frizzled nn now so should have 100% nn chicks. she lays a huge egg. full size. should be easier to hatch than the little ones. every day when I get one I just say ouch, put it in the basket and go on my way.

I want one of them red NN babies! 2 of these have hatched from pale blue eggs! The other eggs she sent me are tan and YES..they are quite large and she had them listed as bantams!

I have one. it is cute as anything. it's about 2 weeks old. living with one of my foster mothers. blue eggs? how cool.

I got a hatchery order last year and asked them to mark the different breeds. I opened the box and LMAO. they looked like they came from a bingo convention. dipped in paint and used to make circles on the cards. there were so many different colors. kind of a rainbow effect. the color stayed on for over a month.
