hard to tell from a photo. Do the wing feathers look ragged or smooth. do I see 4 toes instead of 5? if so I would lean toward frizzle. might be a smooth though. you will know in a week or so.

Nope, they are both going to be frizzled though. The wing feathers are frayed and curling outwards. Is that what a sizzle feather looks like? They have clean legs and 4 toes. one is a lot bigger than the other and the one with the full neck feathers drowned itself in the waterer! I think he was blind because of his eyes being glued closed after hacthing. Last night I had another that was cemented in an egg so he had to sit under warm running water to get all the crap softened up on him and today is a dry peeping fluff ball and so pretty! i think I have earned a degree in peeling hard boiled chicks out of eggs! I have it down to a science now, including moving the veins out of the way for them to be able to come out of the eggs so they dont dry up again. I am not going to let the humidity (or lack of) win!

My lil baby pup had swelling in one of her legs and her hip and she was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Month on antis is what they gave her and she is doing very well now.

Carey

Not lyme, that test was negative. He has a swollen lymph node and now they just called saying his protien level in the urine is low, so they are running another test. Dont know how much of this I can take!

I am sorry it so sucks when our babies are sick. I hope they figure it out quick. hugs

Thanks Carey. I am praying that they lymph node is swollen because maybe he has a low grade infection somewhere. We started him on a high dose of Doxie, so we will see. They are doing another urynalisis today after I drop a first mornings off to them.

Could it all be connected to his stone?

the sizzle group I belong to has something they call a frilkie. it is thier definition for a chick with silkie feathers that frizzle. maybe that is what you will get. A traditional sizzle has hard feathers like a cochin frizzle. the standard they are trying to get accepted would look like a silkie in every way with the exception of the hard curled feathers.

I think you peel more chicks out of eggs than anyone I know. I think you need to try to hatch some big old goose eggs and see how that goes.

forced air self regulating. very easy to use.

Do you use the turner?

yes I do and I love it. I think it was worth every penny. I bought 3 different models of hova bators at the same time. genesis, forced air, and still air. I use them all but the genesis is the best and easiest. my genesis and my still air have turners. I start eggs in the still air but get them out as fast as I can when room becomes available in the genesis. I use the forced air as a hatcher only so once the temp is regulated it can stay for the whole season with only minor adjustments.

of course the best and easiest hatches are under moms. no stress for me. I think you have had that experience recently.

Greg and I are making plans for saturday. It sounds like it is going to be a nice day. after the swap we are going to take a ride to Meredith. we are planning to go out to lunch, go take a look at the new harleys at meredith harley davidson, go to the annalee doll factory, then take a ride through the weirs and see if we can spot the mount washington. it is such a nice area and we will be so close to everything that we are going to take advantage of it.
we are undecided about lunch. there are 2 places we really like. harts turkey farm puts on a wonderful feed of traditional family fare but we also like tamarak which is just up the street. tamarak has great seafood. the best and biggest lobster rolls and great onion rings. If anyone is interested in going to either place with us, that might help us decide. or we could go to the movies and get a box of
