I like standard size breeds. Jubilee Orpingtons are great, I drool over Tolbunt Polish as well but worry about hawks. Looking forward to seeing what they have tomorrow and I'll go from there. I'm looking for some great breed standard birds (vs hatchery) as well as some pretty yard candy. I have hatchery now and they're wonderful for eggs but I'd like to get more "breed correct" stock and start hatching next year. Hopefully I'll run into some fellow BYCers tomorrow. Looking forward to going!

Is anyone looking for small ducks? My mom has a bunch that need homes. She is in MA but I would be willing to drive down there and pick them up. I live near Plaistow, NH. They aren't sexed. The Deerfield Fair was awesome. And the Birds were so beautiful. My kids and I were soooooo tempted to buy a Golden Polish Rooster. Anyone buy anything today? Do they only sell the poultry today or do they sell them over the next few days?

Went home empty handed. Spoke with the staff and judges and decided to wait until the poultry fanciers show in a couple of weeks. If they're available they'll sell they up to and including Sunday but in past years its been my experience that they're sold by then.

Well, the fair was not a waste for me! They had some beautiful birds there. I found the Silkie hens and then spent 20 min. arguing with myself wich one to get. They had a lot to choose from. What I also liked is that they let you take your birds home that day. Most fairs you have to wait till the fair is over. They had some really nice polish birds. The Silkie pullet I got is really mellow. She layed in my lap the whole ride home. I have a pair of Silkies already (George and Louise.) So we named our new one Edith. I love chickens!
