Chicken Toe Fetish

Maybe his former owner kicked him or something and he's waiting for something to happen?
If you end up needing to get rid of him, you can always call a toe truck!

he doesn't seem like he's in attack or, "im gonna git that worm' mode. Tried getting closer and maybe tickling his chest or something with your foot? If he is already a lap rooster, maybe that was part of it too, toe tickles ... shrug...

Edit; For what it's worth, i can kind of do this with my cockatoo with my finger, ill hold it in front of him and he'll stare at it, and ill move it around and boink him on the beak, sometimes he'll laugh. might be a kind of bonding thing, just you are not aware of it yet?

Is he scared? Kind of reminds me of tonic immobility, or the reaction when a chicken is "hypnotized." They become convinced that they're going to die and go basically catatonic

That is so odd. I was expecting this post to be like with my chickens who often peck my toes. Apparently my toe nail polish looks delicious. Lol.

I have a friend who has a tortoise, his name is george.
anyways... george likes strawberries. she kicked her shoes off one day with red nail polish on...only made that mistake once. Id imagine a chicken could give a fairly painful but i can't see too injurious peck to the foot / toe. A boot to the head would solve that real quick too id also imagine. I got one here im about to boot in the ass if she keeps flying and hopping up on top of everything she don't belong!

Think of it this way, whenever you have to round them up for whatever reasons, just kick off your shoe and that one is easily grabbed and corralled. Trust me, having to chase chickens around is NOT fun!

Aaron.
PS. you know, I never did ask Marjorie if she lost the toe or what all happened...just laughed at the story :). This turtle is like 50 friggin pounds, I imagine he could take a toe w/o trying to be honest. well dammit, i need to make a phone call now, but how. hey margie, yes I know it's been a while, but how many toes do you have?????

Nobody has ever seen anything like this?
I'm wondering if he simply has never seen toes up close before and is trying to stare them down to make sure the toes know he's the boss.

my cockatoo has a shoelace fetish. Even when he knows he's going to get his ass swatted he'll still chew them and go to great lengths to get to them.... Maybe the chicken just loves looking at toes? They do look like fat little worms, but are attached to that human, and that whole 'foot' thing that can swing at me !! kind of like you could stare at ocean waves for an hour or so and just be mesmerized at what they will do next.

Just ocunt your lucky stars that's all he is doing is staring and not trying to bite them! With that though id be careful of wearing toenail polish or anything that might make them look tasty.

I figured out how to do this. Here is a link to a short video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qThpP68JGbxwxtd68
hahaha - ok well I am no chicken expert, but I have seen that look in my roosters and young cockerels who are 'staring down' each other to start brawling. I wonder if he is wondering what your appendages are and if they are a danger to him. Have you ever walked around barefooted ? what does he do then?

One of my Silkie Roosters hated bare toes, he would peek at them, in fact he peeked my mums toes and made one bleed! At any rate that was awesome to watch - chickens, a source of great entertainment, its a wonder I get any work done here in my office... as I am once again over run by my 9 week old chicks who like to sleep in front of my desk haha, they learnt not to sleep behind my chair - I almost clobbered one last week when I rolled the chair backwards :O
