I have two stagecoach tractors that we built with a total of six hens (4 5 week old LF in one and 2 8 week bantams in the other. Want to move one LF to the bantam coop as soon as they are big enough.).
The tractors have a coop/roost on one end that can be closed up. It's about 2'x4' and up off the ground. They are nice because they are little coops plus a run all on one. I also have a canvas tarp plus a sun shade tarp over each tractor for protection from the wind and hot sun.
I move the tractors (I just call them coops) every other day. This is my second set of chickens, the first set was a couple years ago with a coop and electric fence and lost a lot of them to raptors and vultures. So starting over now, and hoping the tractors are more like Ft Knox!
So far everyone is happy. I am brainstorming on what to do in the winter (Virginia) as the grass goes dormant and they will tear it up. Was thinking I'll put them up on the asphalt driveway with DLM from Dec-Feb, along with alfalfa hay, veggies and kitchen scraps and so on. Also think I'll cover the whole tractor except the front door with clear plastic tarp to cut down on the wind.
Here are our tractors. Share your tractors and experiences with them through the seasons.
