I have a red star that is about 2.5 years old. It was a good layer for about a year but hasn't laid in about a year. There is clearly something wrong with it as it has it's butt on the ground and it is no longer flying/roosting at night. It's tail feathers are a mess and she isn't very active. That being said, she is still eating lots of food and drinking water. She doesn't seem to be in pain, although she really doesn't want to be touched; she is quick to peck. Can anyone tell me what they think the issue may be?

That upright penguin stance can indicate egg binding. Your production breed hen may have an egg stuck regardless of not having laid in a long while. Be warned, this may end up being fatal no matter what you do.

Try giving her a calcium tablet. Tums will do, but calcium citrate is better as it will work faster. It should be at least 600mg. This will encourage contractions to expel any obstruction. Place her in a crate with plenty of fresh water in a quiet place so reduce stress.
