Chicken-vention... what inventions have you come up with? (Pic heavy)

Keeping my growing chicks from flying onto and knocking over their feeder while in their brooder, a simple onion netting bag, a wide rubber band and a clip allowed me to hang their mason jar feeder from the wire grating I had across the top of their brooder. The netting allowed me to adjust the height, passing the clip thru netting. The rubber band was tight enuff around the neck to hold the weight of the jar and food. Easy to un-clip, unscrew and refill.

Very Clever!

Anything to keep them from standing/roosting on the jar is a good idea!

Tired of litter in their waterer in the brooder as my chicks grew and became more flighty and active, this waterer solved some cleanliness problems! It hung from the wire grate that covered their brooder, using a small plastic sour cream tub (or whatever)

, some wire threaded thru holes on either side mid-way, a few 350 degree nipples (from eBay, or do search..2 nipples worked well for my 6 girls) and some space to allow empty/refill access for the lid. In less than five minutes, their curiosity (and red colored nipples) had them enjoying their new sippage, and less cleaning for me!

Not really a chicken-vention, but..I found that a cat's litter scoop holes were too big for collecting poop on the poop board and left quite a bit behind. This child's beach sand sifter works great. I cut part of the lip off for easy scooping. I still use the litter scooper to push poop into little piles first, then push the poop onto the sifter, shake to sift the extra Sweet PDZ loose back onto poop board, then dispose poop into collection bucket. I picked up several this summer when I found them (at dollar store) to keep on hand!
Just a note..when sifting, I always hear the words someone (sorry, can't remember) on here said, that it was almost a "zen" like thing when scooping and sifting, and it is..kinda like playing in the sand

nice! i've been trying to think of a way to conserve sand in outside run during cleanup, THANKS!!

I also use sand in my chicken run and realized (after buying) a cat litter scoop, that the holes indeed were too big to remove a majority of the poop. So I (did not invent this) but I stumbled upon a make-shift sifter in a food supply store. I'm pretty sure I am the only person that uses it to sift chicken poo!

But it REALLY works great! It gets 99% of all poop, and is fast and effortless to use because of the long handle I don't have to break my back. I have a 5ftx10ft run and it takes 10-15 minutes to sift the entire thing.

The quarter is so you can visualize how big it is.
