***I've posted this in the Emergency section but cannot find out how to delete the post -- sorry*****

I understand that chickens can't really vomit but that is the best description of the behaviour.

A week ago, I bought 4 AmeracaunaX black hens. One arrived with a loud gurgling stomach and has a saliva-like liquid (clear and coloured) occasionally coming from her beak. The most recent shortly after she ate. Otherwise her behaviour is normal. Upon arrival, I found that their poo seemed to have a sour smell but that seems to have lessened since being here. Any ideas? I am questioning Ascites and an impacted crop (I will check crop tomorrow) but I am somewhat new to chickens and this is not something I've encountered before. She acts perfectly normal minus symptoms. Should I be concerned? These chickens are quarantined. Should i be worried about introducing to my flock? They are eating 18% layer pellets and some scratch since being at our farm.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow
Something is definitely going on when they vomit on you. Could be as simple as a slow or sour crop, maybe something more serious like a Coccidiosis infection, overload of intestinal worms, ascites, canker, reproductive cancer, internal laying, the list is endless. Definitely post in our Emergency section and good luck, I hope she is ok! :hugs
