My pen is actually an old dog run, maybe you could see if you could find one second hand... I personally opt to do the secure housing at night vs pen...

Is there any way your dad could build a coop that can have doors/wooden window covers that come down and latch at night? This way she could be hidden out of sight during the night, rather than being an advertised buffet. ;) It is much more expensive I am sure, but if your dad is willing,,,,,,, :) Raccoons and such are constantly troublesome.

They sure are, I have some that visit every night, but I can rest easy knowing my flock is secure in their house, It's a good feeling.

That sounds nice but we really don't have the money.
Am I being a jerk to my duckling?!

Have you considered recycled materials? I just designed a 5'X5' chicken coop that I should be able to build for under $50 out of pallets, cinderblocks, newspaper insulation and old furniture. Check on Craigslist and keep in mind that if you find a shelf it can always become several pieces of wood instead of a shelf. ;3

I don't know but I'll find somthing!
Raccoons are nasty little bugger aren't they!?
We have some in Arkansas and dump our trash every where!
