I have a 2 week old black sweedish duckling (The one in my profile pic.).
And I am going to have my dad build him a pin for outside (Still with his heat lamp and I'll bring him in at night and if the weather gets bad the pin will also have a secure top.)
Is chicken wire okay for the sides?
Or will he get his head stuck in the holes?

I would not just use chicken wire because it is not that sturdy. I would use woven wire, heavy gauge, with metal half inch hardware cloth over it.

Cute baby!

I would also put fence across the top of the pen. Many predators can jump or fly.

Thank you for your advice but the stuff your talking about is very expensive.
I WILL make it sturdy.
I just need to know if he can get his head stuck in it.

I used chicken wire for mine. The only purpose of it was to contain them until they could fly and keep the cats out. They're housed at night and my dog keeps racoons away, but your situation might be completely different.
I've heard animals like coyotes and dogs can chew through chicken wire . I don't know if it true, but you might want keep that in mind if it is.

Coyotes:

We don't have any around here.

Dogs:
We have a fence.(For any dog that do get in the only dogs around here are the tiny yappy one that never shut up!

Racoons:

None of those either.

Cats:

Thanks for the help!

I don't think you'll have to worry about a duckling getting his head stuck in chicken wire.

Raccoons, possum, skunks ect are EVERYWHERe including the largest of cities. Don't use chicken wire now or you could be posting how sad you are when something pulls your cute duck through the chicken wire, or worse rips it open. Chicken wire stops nothing from getting in that wants in.

whoah.
Way to sugar coat it. (NOT)

What do I use then? (Cheapest optinoin please)
