I've got a chicken that has started gathering gunk around her eyes (a little bit like conjunctivitis) she is also struggling to breathe slightly. She's still eating and drinking. Just wondering what her problem is, if it just goes and more importantly if it's contagious?

Howdy. When I have a chicken acting like this, I remove them from the flock to prevent spread of the disease. You are most likely dealing with a bacterial, viral or fungal infection which requires treatment. Some folks go for watch and see. Some folks try treating at home, And some folks will take the bird to an avian vet to evaluate, diagnose and treat.

You can remove the Bird from the flock...The chances are all the birds will have it....Chickens do not catch colds, they catch diseases and Respiratory disease can not be cured...Highly contagious.....You could try treating for Coccoid? That could be the issue???

Cheers!
