One of my speckleds has a very bloody comb that is bleeding in three places. The others were trying to peck her once I noticed it, and she started sneezing and flicking the blood off her beak. She is the lowest on the pecking order, and yesterday I switched to pellet food instead of crumble because that is what I accidentally bought. I wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable eating it so I watched them all chow down. Once everyone had their fill, the speckled poked around by the food. She started pecking at it enthusiastically, but I couldn't tell if she was actually consuming anything. Then I noticed her comb.

We have dabbed off the blood with a damp paper towel, put petroleum jelly all over it, brought her in the house in a giant cardboard box with shavings, and now I have no clue what to do. Please help!

It sounds like she is getting pecked from her flock mates. Chickens will peck more with the sight and taste of blood. I would put an antibiotic cream on her comb and put her back in with the flock. Reintegration will be tough for her, since she is at the bottom of the pecking order anyway.

I'd try to get the bleeding stopped - even corn starch can help. I'm guessing it's really cold where you are, and that can make the bleeding worse. The idea is to get her back into the flock as soon as is possible so that massive pecking order strife does not happen. Good luck.

So I think the vaseline helped stop the bleeding somewhat but it's obviously still red. Should I keep her in the cardboard box but keep her in the coop?

And at what point can I put her back in without her being in a box? Is there something I can put on her comb to keep the others from pecking it?

Whenever u caught bleeding comb always apply Cold Compress
Ice water towel and press it on bleeding never apply Veseline on Open bleeding it won't stop on a chicken

You need to pour some Refind Flour Or Corn Strach and again apply pressure and keep.pouring the starch on the bleeding until it stops it it helps alot

If you have woodash that's also a good option

But after all these things bleeding won't stop it seems that the bird is on low vitamin K which is a deficiency so giving vitamin K will help

If it is cold where you are it could be scabing from mild frost bite and when it bleeds the others will pick at it. Healing balm is better than vaseline. I use... https://www.honest.com/bath-and-bod...ompany+organic+healing+balm&mid=cpc&sid=10176
